Famous For Its Nine-Hole Golf Course
Naldhera is a pleasant little village not far from Shimla. You can see the deep gorge of the Sutlej River from here, and listen to its gurgling in this otherwise quiet place. But Naldhera is mainly famous for its nine-hole golf course, one of the oldest and highest in the country. It has a springy turf and a crown of deodar trees. The course, whose topography is absolutely natural, was laid out at the turn of the century at the instance of Lord Curzon, the then Viceroy of India. At such a height, the course is one of the most challenging in the country. The links are maintained by Himachal Tourism.
Attractions Of Mahunag Temple
Right in the middle of the golf course is the Mahunag temple. Curzon was so enamoured by the beauty of the whole place that he named his youngest daughter Alexandra Naldera!
